Abbey Park
Abbey Park is a public park in Leicester, England, through which the River Soar flows.
The park contains the remains of the 12th century Leicester Abbey that was dissolved by Henry VIII, and the grave of the troublesome Cardinal Wolsey. The Cardinal died there having been recalled by the King and thus saved Henry the trouble of having him executed he is burried in the abbey ground where his tomb can be seen.
There is award winning gardens in the park which is also a award winning green flag park and has formal gardens a sensory garden boating lake and model boat lake miniture railway wisitor centre cafe childrens play area with paddling pool pets corner tennis courts bowles green and a band stand
The ruins of the 17th century Cavendish House, home of William Cavendish, 1st Earl of Devonshire are also in the park.
