Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) NYSE: CSC is a software services company headquartered in El Segundo, California, USA. The company also has offshore development and support centers located at Hyderabad, Indore and Noida.
CSC's history began in April 1959 when it was founded by Roy Nutt and Fletcher Jones, with the goal of providing programming tools such as assemblers and compilers. The company was quickly successful, and went public in 1963, the first software company to be listed on a national exchange.
As of 2005, it has around 79,000 employees worldwide and has clients in 76 locations across six continents. CSC defines itself as a global information technology (IT) services company. These services include systems design and integration; IT and business process outsourcing; Applications software development; Web and application hosting; Research; and Management Consulting.
CSC reported revenue of $14.1 billion for the 12 months ended April. 1, 2005.
Since 1968, it has traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CSC.
It is the main sponsor of Bjarne Riis' Team CSC road bicycle racing team.
