Moldova is divided into 32 Rayons, or raioane, 3 municipalities (Chişinău, Bălţi and Tighina/Bender), one semi-autonomous, non-contiguous region (Gagauzia), and the breakaway region of Transnistria, the status of which is still disputed.

• Găgăuzia (autonomous territorial unit) (Comrat)
• Lăpuşna (Hînceşti)

• Soroca (Soroca)
• Stânga Nistrului (territorial unit) (Dubăsari)
• Tighina (Căuşeni)
• Ungheni (Ungheni)
