Eyre (disambiguation)
Eyre is one of many variant spellings of Éire, the Irish name for Ireland. It derives from eyre, a Middle English word that denotes "a circuit traveled by an itinerant justice in medieval England or the circuit court he presided over," and derives ultimately from the Old French errer "to wander, to travel." Compare Latin iter "journey".
