Fox Television Stations Group

(Redirected from Fox Television Stations)

The Fox Television Stations Group (FTSG) is a group of television stations located throughout the United States which are owned and operated by the Fox Broadcasting Company. FTSG also produces the Fox program Cops. It also syndicated Nickelodeon game shows Double Dare and Finders Keepers in the 1980s.

Fox Television Stations Group was formed in April 1986. It began as a collection of former Metromedia-owned TV stations acquired by business mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. These stations would later go on to be the pillars in the newly formed Fox Network.

In the early 2000s, FTSG began acquiring (from Chris-Craft Industries and Viacom) several UPN affiliates in markets where a Fox affiliate owned by the group existed. This resulted in the consolidation of some facilites and the creation of duopolies in these markets.
