French Prealps

The French Prealps (Préalpes) are a group of mountain ranges of medium elevation. They are located west of the French Alps, stretching from Lake Geneva south-west to the Drôme River. They lie west of the line Chamonix - Albertville - Grenoble.
The mountain ranges are, from north-east to south-west:
- Chablais (highest summit Hauts-Forts, 2464 m)
- Aravis (highest summit Pointe Percée, 2750 m)
- Bornes (highest summit Pointe Blanche, 2438 m)
- Bauges (highest summit Arcalod, 2217 m)
- Chartreuse Mountains (highest summit Chamechaude, 2082 m)
- Vercors Plateau (highest summit Grand Veymont, 2341 m)
