Fuente Ovejuna

Fuente Ovejuna, probably Lope de Vega's most famous play, was published in 1619 in the Docena parte de las comedias de Lope de Vega and was most likely written between 1612 and 1614.

Set during the Christian reconquest of Spain, the play is based on several accounts of a peasant uprising against a cruel overlord, exploring themes of nobility, love, honor, and the contrast between city and country life.
