Gaston de Foix

Gaston de Foix, Duc de Nemours (14891512) was a nephew of Louis XII of France. In 1511 he took command of the French army fighting in the War of the League of Cambrai; he was initially successful against the forces of the Holy League, capturing Brescia and Bergamo. At the Battle of Ravenna in 1512, he defeated the Spanish under Ramon de Cardona but was killed during the subsequent pursuit.
