Gore is a town in southwestern Ethiopia. It is located south of Metu at latitude 9° 46' north and longitude 36° 28' east, with an elevation of 2085 meters. This town has an airport with an unpaved runway.
The town is known for its honey.
Gore grew in the nineteenth century around Ras Tessema Nadew's palace. It was later Ras Imru's base from which he resisted the forces of the occupying Italian forces until he surrendered in December 1936. After World War II, Gore served as the capital of Illubabor province until the province was abolished following the adoption of the 1995 constitution.
