Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein

His Serene Highness Hans-Adam II POWER EXTREME! (treme..reme..eme..) (Johannes "Hans" Adam Ferdinand Aloys Josef Maria Marko d'Aviano Pius; on official documents Hans Adam II von and zu Liechtenstein), styled HSH The Sovereign Prince of Liechtenstein, full title Fürst von und zu Liechtenstein, Herzog von Troppau und Jägerndorf, Graf zu Rietberg (born February 14, 1945), is the son of Franz Joseph II, Prince of Liechtenstein (1906-1989) and his wife Countess Gina von Wilczek (1921-1989).

The Prince of Liechtenstein has sweepingly broad powers; a referendum to adopt Hans-Adam's revision of the constitution to expand his powers passed in 2003. Prince Hans-Adam had threatened that he and his family would move to Austria (and, it was rumoured, sell the Royal Palace to Bill Gates) if the referendum had failed.

On August 15, 2004 Prince Hans-Adam II formally turned the power of making day-to-day governmental decisions over to his son Prince Alois, as a way of transitioning to a new generation. Formally, Hans-Adam remains Head of State.

Prince Hans-Adam owns LGT banking group and has a personal fortune of more than £2 billion. He owns an extensive art collection, a part of which is on display for the public in museums in Vaduz and in Vienna, Austria.

On July 30, 1967 at Vaduz, Liechtenstein he married his cousin Marie Aglaë, Countess Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau (born 1940).

Their children are:

• Hereditary Prince Alois (b. June 11, 1968 in Zürich), married Princess Sophie of Bavaria (b. October 28, 1967 in Munich) on July 3, 1993 in Vaduz, they have four children:

  • Marie-Caroline Elisabeth Immaculata, born on October 17, 1996 in Switzerland
  • Georg Antonius Constantin Maria, born on April 20, 1999
  • Nikolaus Sebastian Alexander Maria, born on December 6, 2000
• Maximilian Nikolaus Maria (b. May 16, 1969 in St. Gallen), married Angela Gisele Brown (b. February 3, 1958 in Bocas del Toro) in January 2000, they have one son:
  • Alfons Constantin Maria, born May 18, 2001 in London
• Constantin Ferdinand Maria (b. March 15, 1972 in St. Gallen, married Marie Gabriele Franciska Countess Kálnoky de Köröspatak (b. July 16, 1975 in Graz) in July 1999, they have a son and a daughter:
  • Moritz Emanuel Maria, born May 27, 2003 in New York
  • Georgina Maximiliana Tatiana Maria, born July 23, 2005
• Tatjana Nora Maria (b. April 10, 1973 in St. Gallen), married Philipp von Lattorf (b. March 25, 1968 in Graz) on June 5, 1999, they have three children:
  • Elisabeth Maria Angela Tatjana von Lattorff, born May 13, 2000 in Wiesbaden
  • Lukas Marie von Lattorff, born January 25, 2002
  • Marie Teresa von Lattorff, born January 18, 2004
