ISO 639-1
Categories: Standards and measurement stubs
ISO 639-1 is the first part of the ISO 639 language code family. It consists of 136 two letter codes that are in widespread use on the internet. The list is not being extended any more. Unregistered languages will only receive an ISO 639-2 and ISO 639-3 code.
RFC 1766 from march 1995 recommended the use of ISO 639-1 codes and even RFC 3066 from january 2001 still did so.
