Junta of National Reconstruction

The Junta of National Reconstruction ruled Nicaragua between 1979 and 1984.

It was composed of 5 members, with Daniel Ortega as its chief, 2 fellow Sandinistas, Sergio Ramírez and Moisés Hassan, and 2 independents, Alfonso Robelo Callejas and Violeta Barrios de Chamorro.

In 1984, prominent junta member and revolutionary Daniel Ortega ascended to the presidency in elections disputed by the United States, and the junta was dissolved.
