List of Kings of Dalriada
Categories: Post-Roman Scotland | Lists of monarchs | Lists of office-holders
The following is a List of the Kings of Dál Riada. It fits in with the history of the island of Great Britain, the history of northern Ireland and Scotland, and the Matter of Britain. Most of the dates and people are factual, or nearly so, reported in multiple sources which were concurrent with only minor collusion. Many of the reported events lack proof, however, placing this into a realm of pseudo-history. It would seem that the kingdom began as a tributary of Ireland, with hereditary kings ruling in Ireland near County Antrim before the monarchy established its own sovereignty in what would become western Scotland around modern Argyll. Most of the dates and information for kings after 700 are accurate according to the information avaialble. They are presented in chronological order, although their reigns are often approximations.
