Pierre Berthier

Pierre Berthier (July 3, 1782August 24, 1861) was a French geologist who discovered the properties of Bauxite in 1821 in the village Les Baux de Provence in southern France. He was knighted in 1832. Sir Berthier went on to establish the Berthier Museum of Geology in Tours.
