This article deals with the currency of modern Slovakia. For the currency of the WWII Slovak Republic see Slovak crown (WWII).
The Slovak crown or Slovak koruna (in Slovak Slovenská koruna;"koruna" means crown) has been the currency of Slovakia since February 8, 1993. It replaced the Czechoslovak Crown - see there for history.
The official name, the ISO 4217 code and the local acronym for the Slovak Crown is Slovenská koruna, SKK, Sk. One crown equals 100 hellers (written shortly as "hal.", in Slovak singular: halier). The Slovak Crown acronym is placed behind the numeric value.
