La Soufrière is a volcano and the highest peak on the island of Saint Vincent in the West Indies. It is 1,234m (4,048ft) high and violently erupted in 1821 and 1902. Its eruption in 1902 killed 1,680 people. The last recorded eruption was in April 1979.
There are other similarly named volcanoes nearby - Soufrière Hills on Montserrat and La Grande Soufrière on Guadeloupe.
