Spanish Royal Family

The Royal Family of the Kingdom of Spain consists of the direct descendants of the current King Juan Carlos of Spain. The Spanish royal family belongs to the House of Bourbon.

The King's two daughters hold the titles Infanta (Princess) of Spain, with the style Her Royal Highness. Their consorts hold no title of their own but are styled His Excellency The Duke of <wife's ducal title>. Their children hold the style of His or Her Excellency.

His son bears the title Prince of Asturias (Crown Prince) with the style His Royal Highness.

The Royal Family includes:

Extended family

The King's two sisters renounced their rights of succession upon marriage, but those renunciations took place before the adoption of the Constitution and were not ratified by the Cortes.

Both sisters still wear the title Infanta of Spain with the style Her Royal Highness. None of their children, however, hold any royal title.

Duke of Calabria

The title of Infante of Spain is also held by the current descendants of the Bourbon-Two Sicilies branch, whose current head is second cousin of the current Spanish king. The title is held by the descendants of HRH Carlo, Prince of Bourbon-Two Sicilies who was created Infante of Spain by Alfonso XIII of Spain after his marriage to Alfonso XIII's older sister, HRH Doña Maria de las Mercedes.

  • HRH Don Carlos Maria Alfonso Marcel Prince of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Infante of Spain, Duke of Calabria, Count of Caserta (born 1938). The title of Infant of Spain was conferred upon him as the "Representative" of the dynastic line of Bourbon-Two Sicilies by King Juan Carlos I on December 16, 1994. Married to HRH Anne Marguerite Brigitte Marie Princess d'Orléans, his children only wear the title Prince(ss) of Bourbon-Two Sicilies due to the "representativeness" value of the Infante of Spain one.
