Plot summary

"What if a simple algorithmic code could crash the Asian stock-market, blackout New York or take control of ballistic missiles? In 2007, this has become a reality. Only one person has the key to the code and you must find them at any cost or the chain of chaos will become unstoppable. You are Sam Fisher, you are a Splinter Cell." - Back of the CD case (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory)

"Japan's creation of an Information Self Defense Force is deemed a violation of international law and of their own Constitution and ignites rising tensions between Japan, China and North Korea. Facing North Korean and Chinese blockades of shipping across the Korea Strait, Japan requests US assistance in accordance with American obligations under Article 9 of the Japanese Post War Constitution.

Mounting evidence gathered by the I-SDF indicates that the devastation of the Japanese economy on the now infamous ‘Black Gold Day’ may have been caused by intentional Information Warfare attacks. As nations begin to mobilize and the United States activates the USS Clarence E Walsh, the world’s premiere Electronic and Information Warfare platform and dispatches her to the region, Third Echelon gets wind of a small and seemingly unrelated incident that may end up having global repercussions…" - http://www.splintercell.com/us/splintercellchaostheory/storyline.php

Different cover for Splinter Cell, Chaos Theory

Chaos Theory, like its predecessor Pandora Tomorrow, includes a competitive multiplayer component to the game as well. This time, however, Chaos Theory expands its multiplayer to include cooperative play allowing for two agents to play through the game's cooperative mission campaign, featuring content related to the story of the main single-player campaign. There are five levels to play with a friend that includes Training and other stealth based missions.

Protection

The game is protected with StarForce protection.

Gameplay

Just like other games in the Splinter Cell Series, Chaos Theory (CT) plays like its predecessors but has innovated the structure and gameplay into the next generation of stealth games by adding effects and more dominant fluency. Although much new and improved gameplay has been revealed in CT, many of the old moves are still here and can be used under many situations that Sam Fisher can come across. The original moves from the first and second SC series include the grabbing character action, involving the player releasing an interaction tab when near the enemy or victim, while other moves like the pipe hang involve having to jump onto a pipe above the player and automatically grabbing the pipe while hanging upside-down.
