Shot in L.A. and in Bulgaria.

The movie was in pre-production for a long time and David Fincher was originally to have directed the movie. Also Mark Wahlberg was originally signed on to play Lee Blanchard but he was prevented from taking part because of scheduling conflicts with The Italian Job II. De Palma managed to replace Wahlberg with Aaron Eckhart shortly before shootings began in April.

Synposis

Based on James Ellroy 's book of the same name, it follows two detectives as they investigate the murder of Elizabeth Short known as the Black Dahlia.
