True Democracy
True Democracy is a direct/indirect democracy in which the majority of the people rule both directly and indirectly (in a representational democracy).
Its most fundamental assumption is that all citizens are equal and sovereign. Here, equality is protected by the restriction of all practices which either document or consider any characteristic, beyond the biometric establishment of identity, of any citizen. Thus it stands as a pillar to both privacy and security.
There are no previously recorded examples of either its consideration or its implementation in the history of this world. It was discovered by Andy Landen during the writing of the book, True Freedom, and during the writing of a research article concerning the highly polarized US presidential elections of 2000 and 2004. It was first published on a Yahoo group page, called True Democracy.
As pioneered by its founder, true democracy:
- Requires that a full majority of the citizens/representatives voice their opinion before the majority will is established and the election is closed.
- Maintains the value of representation while establishing the sovereignty of the majority to either override or bypass their representatives, including concerning the alteration of their own constitution.
- Allows the citizens to propose laws for either an immediate or a delayed vote.
- Requires each respective election to remain open until the majority has spoken and it tracks the results in real-time (or in near real-time).
- Requires periodic review (by the representatives and by the citizens, if majority is so inclined) so that all laws are approved by the current majority and not just by some historic majority.
- Establishes complete equality by barring all laws which have the power to discriminate between citizens, except for the establishment of identity.
- Requires judicial decisions to remain bounded by the current law and constitution, without interpretations or personal adjustments so that the will of the people remains inviolate.
