Tuber

For the fungal genus, see Truffle.

A tuber is a part of a rhizome thickened for use as a storage organ. It is usually, though not always, subterranean, such as a potato.

This should not be confused with a tuberous root such as a sweet potato or Dahlia, which is a similarly swollen root.
