USS Maddox

Three destroyers in the United States Navy have been named USS Maddox for William Maddox.

The first Maddox (DD-168) was christened in 1918, transferred to the Royal Navy, transferred to the Russian Navy, then given back to the RN.
The second USS Maddox (DD-622) was christened in 1942. She was sunk the next year by a German dive bomber.
The third USS Maddox (DD-731), was christened in 1944. She had a short career in World War II, and participated in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
