Verne Newton Brown is a fictional character, the youngest son of Dr Emmett "Doc" Brown and his wife Clara in the Back to the Future series. His first name is in reference to Jules Verne, the favorite novelist of his parents. His middle name was revealed in Back to the Future: the Animated Series in reference to Isaac Newton.

He appeared briefly at the end of Back to the Future Part III and was a main character in Back to the Future: the Animated Series that aired from September 21, 1991 to 1993. He was played by Daniel Evans in the film and voiced by Troy Davidson in the series.

In the series, we learn that Verne was born on October 29, 1888. He assisted his own birth via time travel. Verne adapted very well when the Brown family moved to 1991 and is friends with Marty McFly. He was about 8 years old by 1991 (biologically).

Verne likes computer and video games and watching television. He is almost always seen wearing a raccoon skin cap like Davy Crockett. At one point he thought he might be adopted as he was not as smart as the rest of the family. For example Verne brought a dinosaur egg back to 1992 Hill Valley which later hatched. Verne (favorite saying "Skunkhead") is however usually a quite cheerful young man.
