William Murdoch, born 24 February, 1823, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, died 4 May, 1887, Saint. John, New Brunswick, Canada, was a Scottish-Canadian poet.
Murdoch emigrated to Canada in 1854, aged 31, and was appointed manager of the gas works on Partridge Island in 1855. He contributed to the St John Morning News from 1865, and published Poems and Songs by William Murdoch, 1860, and Discursory Ruminations: a Fireside Drama, 1876.
