The World of Ruin is a term used in the Square Co., Ltd.'s RPG Final Fantasy VI referring to the state of the world after Kefka unleashes the power of the Goddess Statues. The continents have been rearranged, towns have been destroyed, nothing grows, and undead and poisonous monsters roam the land. Unlike the World of Balance, the World of Ruin begins with the character Celes and follows her on a very non-linear quest to find her friends and destroy Kefka.

The World of Ruin's freedom of gameplay means the player can actually beat the game with only three characters: Celes, Edgar, and Setzer (although Terra shows up at the end).
